BARRON’S BACKGROUND

Barron was born & raised in North Carolina & graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Barron is resident of The Village of Pinehurst, NC and the 4th of 5 children of the late Bobby and Betty Maness of Northern Moore County.
From statewide, regionally and locally in North Carolina, Barron has a wide Baritone vocal range from a tender balladeer to the powerful sound of a theatrical vocalist. Barrons strong and genuine connection with his audiences transcends barriers and creates an enjoyable entertainment experience.
Barron is adept at performing a variety of music in his own personal style from the Broadway classics to the sounds of today's top recording pop artists. Since early childhood, Barron has been performing in church musicals, school and civic events and local theatre. As a result of his parents' vibrant love for a variety of musical styles and artists, Barron was introduced to a wide-range of musical genres. His parents helped to establish a solid musical foundation with piano lessons, structured choral teaching and individual performance opportunities.
Barron has performed as a featured soloist in various programs and concerts all across North Carolina over the past 20 years. From high school and collegiate theatrical productions as lead actor and vocalist in Brigadoon and Lil' Abner among many others, Barron has been featured as lead vocalist with various performance groups. Barron has competed in various regional and national music competitions and in 1995 competed and advanced to the finals of the National Contemporary Christian Music Competition in Nashville, Tennessee. He also received high accolades as the featured guest performer at the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant and over the past 2 years has co-produced and starred in 5 musical variety shows, which showcase his wide range of musical tastes and talents to packed auditoriums.
The following excerpt from an interview with Barron gives you a feel for the person and his artistic influences.
"God has blessed me with so much in my life. He has given me wonderful friends and family, which make my life so much richer and meaningful, and a mom and dad who have provided me with a Christian home full of love, guidance and support. The greatest joys in my life all revolve around my family, my dear friends and music! My earliest memories involve singing, which was always a family affair as a result of the insistence of my dad and the fact that all my siblings are singers. In fact, I am often asked what singer or performer has had the most influence on me, and without a doubt that is my dad! My dad introduced and exposed all of his children to a plethora of musical performers from the thrilling sounds of Elvis to the crooning of Sinatra. I have encapsulated those influences and attempted to develop a style that is uniquely my very own. I have been singing and performing my entire life and have loved it from childhood to now! Whether I am performing the majestic sounds of a big show tune with the full compliment of an orchestra, a tender pop ballad to the strains of an acoustic guitar, or a heart touching Christian song with piano only, I feel very comfortable. I also want to say a special "thank you" to all of my fans for all of the love and support you have given me through the years."

POWER PLAY
Hey music fans,

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news! 2023 has been nothing short of exciting and rewarding for us. After retiring Taste, Ron and I decided to form a new band to complement our growing duo gigs, which have been gaining increased bookings and interest.

Our band made its grand debut at The Neon Rooster in downtown Aberdeen on March 18th, playing to a sold-out, standing-room-only crowd buzzing with energy. The night was a tremendous success, and we're grateful for the support! Since then, we've already received bookings for civic events and private parties, and we're looking forward to securing more public performances.

With a repertoire spanning pop, classic rock, urban country, blues covers, and even original tunes, our new band is eager to connect with you all. Stay tuned for upcoming gigs and get ready to experience the electric atmosphere that our music brings!
Warmly,
Power Play
